Flexible Network Management and Maintainability
Several network management methods are available for the ATLAS 550, in-
cludingSNMPsupport.VT-100andTelnetarealsooffered,provingdetailed
system configuration through aneasy-to-use menusystem. The terminal in-
terface is secured by six levels of password protection withvarying degrees
of management privileges. The terminal interface is accessed locally or re-
motely by using either the control port, the CRAFT port, or the Ethernet in-
terface. The Ethernet interface on the Base Unit provides a connection at
10 MBS or 100 MBS.
Userconfigurationscanbepreservedinnonvolatilememoryandduplicated
for managing multiple ATLAS 550 implementations. ATLAS 550 also sup-
ports flash upgrades for future enhancements. You can remotely download
software using TFTP or XMODEM.
The ATLAS 550 front panel contains an extensive array ofLEDs for alarm
andstatusinformationpertainingtothesystemandtheindividualmodules.
Several test capabilities allow you to diagnose the health ofyour T1, PRI, or
BRI circuits without additional test equipment. Tests include local, remote,
andV.54loopbacksusingthe511, QRSS,allzeros,andallonestestpatterns.
StandardBantamtestjackslocatedonthe ATLAS550networkmodulesalso
allow you to use external test equipment to monitor traffic.
